Use Photos and Videos to tell your team’s story

This page is designed to assist you, the photo and video journalist for your team, in capturing God’s work both in and through your team.
"a picture is worth a thousand words"
This phrase suggests that visual imagery can communicate complex concepts, emotions, or narratives more efficiently than words alone. It emphasizes the power of visual storytelling, where a single image can evoke emotions, provoke thought, and convey meaning across language and cultural barriers.
the story
Your are taking videos and photos to share the journey of your YOM Team as they bring the message of John 3:16 to life. By capturing moments of our outreach—whether it’s serving the community, praying with others, or sharing testimonies—we can show the love of Christ in action. These images and videos help tell a story of hope and salvation, inviting others to see that God’s gift of eternal life is available to everyone who puts their faith in Jesus. Through your visual storytelling, we pray that hearts will be touched and lives transformed by the truth of the Gospel.
the Planning
To capture great videos and photos that truly tell the story of your Youth Outreach Team, start by defining the core message you want to share—whether it’s the energy of an event, the personal growth of team members, or the impact on the lives reached with the Gospel. Plan your shots around real moments rather than staged ones, focusing on authentic interactions, laughter, teamwork, and transformation. Create a simple shot list that includes wide shots to set the scene, close-ups to capture emotion, and action shots to show the team engaging others. Take photos and videos during activities with strong visual appeal, and make sure lighting and sound are clear to enhance quality. Most importantly, involve everyone on the team in the process—let them share their perspectives, record behind-the-scenes moments, and help shape the narrative so the final story feels genuine, relatable, and inspiring.
the Daily Post
“Every day, we see God’s hand at work in and through our Youth Outreach Team. He is opening doors, touching hearts, and using each conversation, smile, and act of service to plant seeds of hope. We post daily updates with great videos and photos because we want you to see the story you’re helping write — a story of lives being changed through the power of the Gospel. Your faithful prayers and generous giving are not just support; they are a vital part of the mission. Together, we are showing the love of Christ in action, and every image and video is a glimpse of the miracles God is doing through us all.”

Think, Imagine, Create
Capturing photos and videos is more than just pressing a button — it’s a process that blends thought, vision, and action. First, think about your subject, the story you want to tell, and the emotions you wish to convey. Then, imagine how light, angles, and composition can bring that story to life, visualizing the final image or scene before you even take it. Finally, create by using your camera or phone to turn that vision into reality, experimenting with techniques and perspectives until your work reflects the feeling you envisioned. This cycle transforms simple moments into lasting results for the cause of Christ.
